The ROTOR CLIP E-50SS MPS is an external E style retaining ring designed for 1/2 inch shaft diameters. It seats into a precision-machined external groove to axially retain components on a shaft without requiring a threaded fastener or snap groove machined into a bore. Manufactured from 15-7 Grade 632 stainless steel and passivated to AMS-5529 and UNS S15700 standards, this ring delivers corrosion resistance and high hardness (37-43 HRC) suitable for demanding mechanical assemblies. The three-prong E style configuration allows installation and removal with standard retaining ring pliers. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and industrial equipment technicians regularly use these rings in pump shafts, fan assemblies, and precision rotating components.
This retaining ring is suited for shafts nominally 1/2 inch (12.70 mm) in diameter where an external groove has been machined to a groove diameter of 0.396 inches with a groove width of 0.046 inches and a groove depth of 0.052 inches. The passivated finish makes it appropriate for wet, high-humidity, or chemically exposed environments common in HVAC, pool equipment, and fluid-handling applications. It meets military specification MS 16633-4050 and ISO 13485.2015, making it acceptable for applications requiring documented material traceability.
Designed as an OEM-style external retaining ring for 1/2 inch shafts with a machined external groove diameter of 0.396 inches, groove width of 0.046 inches, and groove depth of 0.052 inches per the ROTOR CLIP E-50SS MPS specification.
Installation and removal require E style retaining ring pliers sized for this ring; using incorrect tooling risks deforming the prongs or the groove. De-energize and lock out all rotating machinery before servicing shaft components. Verify groove dimensions match the specified tolerances before installing to prevent ring walk-out under load. Passivated stainless rings do not require additional lubrication or coating at installation.
