Product Description

The ROTOR CLIP E-25ST PA is an external E style retaining ring designed to secure components on a shaft without the need for grooves machined all the way around the shaft diameter. It seats in a shallow circumferential groove on the outside of a 1/4 inch shaft and holds axial position under load. Made from SAE 1060-1090 carbon steel with a phosphate finish for corrosion resistance, this ring measures 0.025 inches thick and provides a reliable mechanical stop in compact assemblies. It is installed by trade professionals in mechanical, HVAC, and industrial applications wherever precise axial retention on small-diameter shafts is required.

This ring is suited for use on 1/4 inch shafts (6.35 mm) with a groove diameter of 0.210 inches and a groove width of 0.029 inches. It is commonly found in small motors, pump assemblies, fan shaft assemblies, and precision mechanical components across residential and light commercial equipment. The three-prong E style design allows for quick installation and removal without special tooling, making it a practical choice in production and field-service environments. The phosphate finish provides a base layer of corrosion protection suitable for indoor and sheltered installations.

Key Features

  • E style external design with three prongs for tool-free installation and removal on 1/4 inch shafts
  • SAE 1060-1090 carbon steel construction (UNS G10600-G10900) meets ISO 13485:2015 standards
  • Phosphate finish provides baseline corrosion resistance and improves paint adhesion where applicable
  • Hardness rated at 66.5-71 HR30N for consistent retention force under dynamic load
  • Groove diameter of 0.210 inches with a tight tolerance of 0.000 to 0.003 inches for precise fitment
  • Ring thickness of 0.025 inches with tolerance of -0.002 to 0.002 inches for dimensional consistency

Compatibility

Designed for use on 1/4 inch diameter shafts (0.250 inches decimal) with a groove width of 0.029 inches and groove depth of 0.020 inches. Verify shaft and groove dimensions against the specified tolerances before installation.

Installation Notes

Installation is typically performed by mechanical technicians or field service professionals using needle-nose pliers or an E ring applicator tool to seat the prongs into the shaft groove. Always de-energize and lock out the equipment before servicing any rotating assembly. Do not reuse a ring that has been removed, as the prongs may be deformed and retention force will be reduced. Confirm groove dimensions match specifications before installation to avoid ring walk or ejection under load.
