The ROTOR CLIP E-18SS MPS is an external E style retaining ring designed for 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch) shafts. It seats into a machined groove on the shaft exterior and provides a positive stop to retain bearings, gears, pulleys, or other components on the shaft. The ring is manufactured from 15-7 stainless steel (Grade 632) and carries a passivated finish for corrosion resistance. With a ring thickness of 0.025 inches and a hardness rating of 63 to 69.5 HR30N, this part meets AMS-5529 and UNS S15700 fastener standards. It also conforms to Military Specification MS 16633-4018 and ISO 13485:2016. Maintenance technicians and assemblers in industrial, HVAC, and mechanical service applications use this ring where reliable axial retention is required on small-diameter shafts.
This retaining ring is suited for use in compact rotating assemblies where space is limited and a three-prong E style profile provides secure retention without requiring special tooling beyond standard retaining ring pliers. It is appropriate for residential and commercial equipment assemblies, pump shafts, motor shafts, and similar precision-fit applications where stainless steel corrosion resistance is specified. The passivated surface is compatible with environments exposed to moisture or mild chemical contact. This ring is sold individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 100 units per order.
Designed for external installation on 3/16 inch diameter shafts with a groove diameter of 0.147 inches and groove width of 0.029 inches. Verify shaft groove dimensions against the specified tolerances before installation.
Installation and removal require standard external retaining ring pliers sized for small-diameter E style rings. De-energize and lock out any equipment before servicing rotating assemblies. Confirm the shaft groove is clean, free of burrs, and within specified tolerance before seating the ring. Do not over-expand the ring during installation as this can affect retention force and dimensional integrity.
