The ROBERT LARSON 705-2010 is a 6000 grit finishing water stone manufactured to Japanese specifications. It is used in the final stages of edge sharpening to refine and polish a blade edge after coarser grits have done their cutting work. At 6000 grit, this stone removes very fine scratches left by medium-grit stones and produces a polished, razor-sharp edge. It is appropriate for sharpening chisels, plane irons, knives, and other edged tools. The stone requires soaking in water for 30 minutes before first use and can remain submerged in water indefinitely after that initial soak. Woodworkers, finish carpenters, and other tradespeople who rely on sharp hand tools use this type of stone as a final step in a multi-stage sharpening progression.
This stone is suited for professional shop environments and job-site use where consistent, high-quality edge refinement is required. It is intended as a finishing stone and works best when used after an 800 grit or similarly coarse stone has established the primary bevel. Progressing through grits before finishing with the 6000 grit stone produces the best edge geometry and surface finish. It is sold individually and is appropriate for anyone maintaining edged hand tools across woodworking, flooring, cabinetry, and related trades.
Designed as a finishing stone for use with edged hand tools including chisels, plane irons, and knives as the final stage in a progressive water stone sharpening system.
Soak the stone in clean water for at least 30 minutes before the first use. Keep the stone surface wet during sharpening by adding water as needed. Always begin with a coarser grit stone to establish the bevel before moving to this 6000 grit finish stone. Store the stone in a way that prevents cracking from freezing if used in unheated environments.
