The ROBERT BOSCH TOOL GROUP NS1011 is a nail-strike wood boring bit engineered to drill through wood that contains embedded nails without damaging the bit or losing drilling speed. It measures 7/8 inches in diameter and 6 inches in length, and it ships in a 5-piece package. The fully threaded cone tip pulls the bit through wood quickly, reducing feed pressure and operator fatigue. Reinforced reamer cutting edges give the bit the structural durability needed to handle nail contact that would destroy a standard spade or auger bit. This is a purpose-built tool for rough-in framing, remodel, and retrofit work where old lumber with hidden fasteners is unavoidable.
The NS1011 is suited for residential and light commercial applications where electricians, plumbers, and HVAC technicians drill through existing wall cavities, floor joists, and framing members during retrofit and remodel installations. The contoured paddle design accelerates chip removal, keeping the hole clear and reducing heat buildup during extended boring runs. The hex shank seats securely in standard chuck types and in quick-change hex-drive systems, making the bit compatible with a wide range of corded and cordless drills and right-angle drives commonly used on job sites.
Designed for use in standard hex-chuck and quick-change drill drivers for boring through solid wood and nail-embedded lumber in framing, remodel, and retrofit applications.
Installation of this bit is performed by electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and general contractors during rough-in or retrofit work. Verify the hex shank is fully seated in the chuck before beginning. When drilling through existing assemblies, be aware of hidden wiring, pipe, and structural fasteners beyond any nails the bit is designed to contact. Follow applicable NEC, IPC, or IFGC clearance requirements when boring through framing members for trade rough-in work.
