The ROBBJACK T12-405-04 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking and machining applications. Part of the T12-405 series, this tool features a 1/8 inch cutting diameter, a 1/2 inch length of cut, and a 3/8 inch straight cylindrical shank. With 4 spiral flutes and a right-hand cut and flute direction, it delivers clean, accurate material removal in a compact form factor. The uncoated solid carbide construction in the Tuffy material grade provides the rigidity and edge retention needed for demanding cuts in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Machinists and CNC operators working with tight tolerances rely on this end mill for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations.
This end mill is suited for use in CNC machining centers, manual knee mills, and precision milling fixtures where a small-diameter tool is required. The centercutting capability allows plunge milling in addition to standard peripheral and slot cuts. The regular length designation and 2-1/2 inch overall length make it appropriate for standard reach applications without the rigidity loss associated with extended reach tools. It is commonly used in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments working with aluminum, brass, steel, and similar materials.
Designed as a standard straight-shank square end mill compatible with 3/8 inch collets, end mill holders, and milling chucks used in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard toolholding procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder to the recommended engagement depth and torque the retention mechanism according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before commencing cuts, as excessive runout on small-diameter carbide tools can cause premature breakage.
