The ROBBJACK T12-403-06 is a solid carbide square end mill from the T12-403 series, designed for precision milling in demanding machining environments. The cutter features a 3/16 inch diameter with a 5/16 inch length of cut, mounted on a 3/8 inch straight cylindrical shank, with an overall length of 2-1/2 inches. The stub-length geometry provides added rigidity, reducing deflection during aggressive cuts. With four spiral flutes and a 30-degree helix angle, this end mill delivers efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. It is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry into workpiece material without pre-drilling. Installed by machinists and toolroom operators on CNC mills and manual knee mills.
This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and pocketing operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where tight tolerances are required. The uncoated solid carbide construction in ROBBJACK Tuffy material grade is well matched to a range of shop floor applications, particularly where re-sharpening is part of the tooling management strategy. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation make this a standard configuration for conventional and climb milling setups. Stub-length tools like this are commonly chosen when tool overhang must be minimized to maintain dimensional accuracy.
Designed as a standard straight-shank end mill for use in collet chucks, end mill holders, and milling chucks accepting a 3/8 inch shank diameter, compatible with CNC machining centers and manual mills configured for that shank size.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked before inserting or removing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the recommended minimum engagement depth before tightening. Confirm runout with a dial indicator after clamping, and verify speeds and feeds match the workpiece material and cut depth before engaging the spindle.
