The ROBBJACK STR-404-10-T is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from solid carbide in the Super Tuffy material grade, it delivers the rigidity and wear resistance needed for demanding cutting applications. The fine-pitch, 4-flute geometry with a right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction promotes efficient chip evacuation while maintaining surface control during roughing passes. A TiN coating extends tool life by reducing friction and heat buildup at the cutting edge. At 5/16 inch (0.3125 inch) diameter with a matching 5/16 inch shank, this is a center-cutting tool suited for plunge and peripheral roughing cuts.
This end mill fits standard CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines where a 5/16 inch collet or end mill holder is used. The regular-length geometry - 13/16 inch length of cut and 2-1/2 inch overall length - makes it appropriate for general-purpose roughing in steel, stainless, and other ferrous alloys where the Super Tuffy carbide grade performs well. It is sized for production shops, tool rooms, and maintenance machining environments where solid carbide roughers are the standard choice for stock removal efficiency.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use roughing end mill for milling applications requiring a 5/16 inch diameter, 4-flute, single-end solid carbide tool with a 5/16 inch shank in the STR-404 series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the collet or end mill holder. Confirm the holder bore matches the 5/16 inch shank diameter and that the tool is seated to the correct gauge length before tightening. Review the applicable machine tool safety standards and shop procedures before beginning any cutting operation.
