The ROBBJACK SS-2-021 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding machining environments. With a 0.021-inch cutting diameter and a 0.0315-inch length of cut, this stub-length tool is built for tight-tolerance work in confined pockets and shallow features. The 2-flute geometry with a 30-degree right-hand spiral helix promotes efficient chip evacuation while maintaining rigidity at small diameters. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece. The uncoated carbide construction suits a wide range of base materials where coating is not required or where regrinding is anticipated.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers, high-speed spindles, and precision manual mills where micro-diameter tooling is required. The 1/8-inch shank diameter provides compatibility with standard collet systems commonly found in production and prototype shops. Its stub-length classification reduces tool deflection, making it well suited for fine-detail milling, engraving lead-in passes, and slotting operations in materials such as aluminum, brass, plastics, and soft steels. A licensed machinist or tooling technician familiar with micro-diameter end mills should handle setup and operation.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-specification micro end mill for CNC machining centers and precision mills equipped with standard 1/8-inch collet toolholding systems.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the spindle fully powered down and locked out per applicable shop safety procedures. Use a calibrated torque collet wrench appropriate for 1/8-inch toolholding to secure the shank without over-tightening. At 0.021-inch diameter, this tool is highly susceptible to breakage from side loads, runout, and improper feed-rate programming - verify spindle runout and program conservative feed and speed parameters before full production use. Consult the tooling manufacturer feeds-and-speeds data or a machining handbook for appropriate starting parameters for the target material.
