The ROBBJACK SR-2-050 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in tight-tolerance applications. Part of the SR-2 series, it features a 3/64 inch (0.0500 inch) mill diameter with a 0.15 inch length of cut and a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. The 2-flute, spiral-flute geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry into the workpiece. The uncoated carbide construction in the Tuffy material grade provides rigidity and wear resistance suited to small-diameter work in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Licensed machinists and CNC tool-and-die technicians are the primary installers of this tooling.
This end mill is suited for high-precision slot milling, profiling, and contouring operations where small feature sizes are required. The 1-1/2 inch overall length and regular length classification keep deflection low at this diameter. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional CNC machining centers and manual mills. It is appropriate for prototype work, mold and die finishing, and fine-feature machining in production environments where dimensional accuracy is critical.
Designed as a standard replacement or stock tooling option for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Part of the ROBBJACK SR-2 series of small-diameter solid carbide square end mills.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism per the tool holder manufacturer's specifications. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, as small-diameter carbide tools are brittle and sensitive to runout in the holder.
