The ROBBJACK C1-401-10 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for precision metal removal in milling applications. With a 5/16-inch cutting diameter and a 13/16-inch length of cut, this tool handles slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The four-flute, right-hand spiral geometry at a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and surface finish quality. A straight-cylindrical shank at 5/16 inch fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders used in CNC and manual milling machines. This is a centercutting design, allowing plunge entry directly into the workpiece. Machinists and toolroom operators working in production or job shop environments will find this tool suited to general-purpose milling at close tolerances.
This end mill is appropriate for use in vertical and horizontal machining centers, knee mills, and CNC machining cells. The C1-401 series covers regular-length solid carbide square end mills intended for general-purpose work in steel, aluminum, cast iron, and similar machinable materials. The uncoated finish and C2 carbide grade make it a practical choice for toolrooms that maintain a standard inventory of carbide end mills across common shank sizes. It operates as a single-end tool with a 2-1/2-inch overall length, keeping deflection low in typical setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-inventory solid carbide square end mill for standard 5/16-inch collet chucks and end mill holders used in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is seated to the correct gauge length in the holder before tightening. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping, as carbide end mills are sensitive to concentricity errors that accelerate edge wear. Follow the machine manufacturer and tool manufacturer feed and speed guidelines for the specific workpiece material.
