The RIVETKING 31C1ISRAP/P25 is an aluminum knurled rivet nut insert threaded to a 5/16-18 UNC standard. Rivet nut inserts - also called nutserts or blind rivet nuts - create a load-bearing threaded hole in thin-wall material where access to the back side is limited or impossible. This uncoated aluminum insert features a knurled body that resists rotation during installation, and a 0.615-inch body length sized for typical sheet metal and panel applications. Grip range runs from 0.531 to 0.536 inches, making it well-suited for consistent material thicknesses in that window. Installers in fabrication, HVAC panel work, electrical enclosures, and light structural assembly use these fasteners regularly. Each package contains 25 inserts.
These rivet nut inserts are used in applications where a strong, removable threaded connection is needed in sheet metal, aluminum extrusions, composite panels, or thin structural members. A 1/2-inch drill size is required for proper hole preparation. The 5/16-18 UNC thread accepts standard unified coarse fasteners widely used across mechanical and electrical trade work. The uncoated aluminum finish is appropriate for interior environments or where galvanic considerations favor aluminum-to-aluminum contact. Typical install scenarios include HVAC equipment panels, electrical junction enclosures, and light commercial fabrication assemblies.
Designed for use in thin-wall sheet metal, aluminum panel, and composite material applications requiring a blind-side 5/16-18 UNC threaded insert with a 0.531 to 0.536-inch grip range and a 1/2-inch prepared hole.
Installation requires a dedicated rivet nut setting tool sized for 5/16-18 UNC inserts - manual, pneumatic, or cordless versions are all applicable. Drill or punch the host material to exactly 1/2 inch before inserting. Verify material thickness falls within the 0.531 to 0.536-inch grip range before setting to avoid under-set or over-set conditions. Power down any energized panels or equipment before drilling into enclosures or live assemblies.
