The RITEN 71051 is a solid dead center designed for use in lathes and turning centers where a fixed, non-rotating support point is required at the tailstock or between centers. Machined from hardened tool steel, this dead center features a 5MT Morse taper shank and a standard-point geometry with a head diameter of 1.748 inches and an overall length of 8.5 inches. With a stated accuracy of 0.00005 inches, it is suited for precision turning applications where runout and deflection must be minimized. This style of center does not rotate with the workpiece and is typically used at lower speeds with adequate lubrication.
The RITEN 71051 is used in manual and CNC lathes equipped with a No. 5 Morse taper tailstock. It is a standard fitment for shops performing between-centers turning on medium to large workpieces. Typical applications include shaft turning, cylindrical grinding setups, and general-purpose turning operations in job shops, toolrooms, and production environments. Installation and use require the operator to observe appropriate spindle speed limits for a dead-center configuration.
Designed for use in lathes and turning centers with a No. 5 Morse taper tailstock bore.
Installation is performed by a machinist or lathe operator. Power down and bring the spindle to a complete stop before seating or removing the center. Clean the Morse taper bore and shank thoroughly before insertion to ensure full seating and accurate alignment. Because this is a solid dead center, apply suitable lubricant to the center point contact area and observe appropriate speed limits to prevent galling or workpiece damage.
