The RITEN 71041 is a solid dead center designed for use in lathe tailstocks and other machine tool applications requiring a stationary support point. Machined from hardened tool steel, it seats on a 4MT Morse taper shank and features a standard point style with a 1.231-inch head diameter and 1.231-inch point diameter. Overall length is 6.75 inches, with a point-to-gauge-line measurement of 2.688 inches. Accuracy is held to 0.00005 inches, making this center suitable for close-tolerance turning operations. It is installed and used by machinists and tool-room technicians working on manual or CNC lathes.
This solid dead center fits tailstocks and headstocks bored to the 4MT Morse taper standard. It is appropriate for general-purpose turning, facing, and between-center grinding applications in production and job-shop environments. Because it is a dead center rather than a live center, it is best suited for low-speed operations or applications where a rotating live center is not required. The hardened tool steel construction provides resistance to wear and deformation under steady workpiece pressure.
Designed to fit any tailstock or headstock spindle bored to the 4MT Morse taper standard, as typically found on mid-size manual and CNC lathes.
Installation is performed by machinists or tool-room technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or removing the center. Clean the Morse taper bore and the shank of any chips, oil, or debris before insertion to ensure proper seating and runout accuracy. Use the knockout bar through the tailstock spindle bore to remove the center - never strike the workpiece end directly.
