The RITEN 69105 is a solid dead center designed for precision lathe and turning operations. Machined from carbide-tipped steel, it features a standard point style and a 5MT (No. 5 Morse Taper) shank for secure, repeatable seating in compatible tailstock spindles. The head diameter measures 1-3/4 inches and the point-to-gauge-line distance is 3-5/16 inches. Accuracy is rated at 0.00005 inches, making this center well-suited for close-tolerance turning work. At 5.5 pounds, the 69105 is a solid, heavy-duty unit built for sustained shop use. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals will recognize the full dead center construction as the standard choice when a driven live center is not required.
The RITEN 69105 is used in metalworking lathes and cylindrical grinding setups where the workpiece is supported between centers. It fits tailstock spindles configured for a No. 5 Morse Taper and is appropriate for both production turning and precision grinding applications in job shop and manufacturing environments. The carbide-tipped point resists wear under the friction and pressure inherent to dead center operation, extending service life compared to plain steel centers. Typical users include machinists, tool grinders, and precision-parts manufacturers working on steel and hard-material workpieces.
Designed for use in metalworking lathes and cylindrical grinders equipped with a No. 5 Morse Taper tailstock spindle bore.
Installation is performed by machinists familiar with Morse Taper tooling. Clean the tailstock spindle bore and the taper shank thoroughly before seating to ensure full contact and accurate alignment. Insert the taper shank firmly by hand or with a soft mallet; never use excessive force that could damage the spindle bore. To remove, use the tailstock spindle's ejector mechanism or a proper drift tool - do not pry or strike the center body directly.
