The RITEN 69102 is a carbide-tipped solid dead center designed for precision lathe work in metalworking and machining applications. Featuring a 2MT Morse taper shank, the center mounts directly into the tailstock or headstock of a lathe without the need for a live bearing assembly. The carbide-tipped point delivers exceptional wear resistance and holds a 0.00005 inch accuracy tolerance, making it well suited for high-precision turning operations where runout must be tightly controlled. The 1-1/4 inch head diameter and standard point style make this a conventional general-purpose dead center for a wide range of workpiece diameters.
This solid dead center is used in manual and CNC lathe setups across machine shops, toolrooms, and production environments. It is appropriate for both roughing and finishing passes when the workpiece is adequately supported and lubricated at the center point. The 2MT Morse taper shank fits tailstocks on smaller engine lathes and bench lathes commonly found in light industrial and toolroom settings. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this center when a fixed, non-rotating support point is required at the workpiece tail end.
Designed as an OEM-style solid dead center for lathes equipped with a Number 2 Morse taper tailstock bore.
Installation is performed by machinists familiar with lathe setup and toolroom practices. Power down and lock out the lathe before seating or removing the center from the tailstock. Clean the Morse taper bore and the center shank thoroughly before insertion to ensure full contact and prevent false seating. When using a solid dead center, apply appropriate center lubricant to the workpiece center hole to reduce heat and friction during cutting.
