The RITEN 68124 is a solid dead center designed for use in lathes and turning equipment where a stationary, non-rotating center point is required. Manufactured from steel with a 4MT Morse taper shank, this long-point dead center seats directly into the tailstock or headstock of a lathe spindle. The head diameter measures 1 inch, the point diameter measures 2-1/4 inches, and the point-to-gauge-line distance is 2-7/8 inches. With a stated accuracy of 0.00005 inches, this center is suited for precision turning operations where runout and concentricity are critical. It is installed and used by machinists and tool room technicians working on manual or CNC lathes.
This solid dead center is appropriate for manual lathe work where the workpiece rotates around the stationary center point and the application does not require a live rotating center. It fits tailstock or headstock bores machined to accept a 4MT Morse taper. Thread size is 1-1/8-12. Typical applications include between-center turning, grinding setups, and precision cylindrical work in job shop and production environments. The long-point style extends reach and is suited for workpieces requiring deeper center engagement.
Designed for use in lathe tailstocks or headstocks machined to accept a 4MT Morse taper bore. Suitable for manual and CNC lathes configured for between-center turning with a solid dead center.
Installation is performed by machinists or tool room technicians. Power down and de-energize the lathe before seating or removing the center. Insert the 4MT Morse taper shank firmly into the tailstock or headstock bore to ensure full seating and prevent slippage during operation. Because this is a solid dead center, the workpiece rotates against the stationary point, so adequate lubrication at the center contact point is essential to prevent galling and heat buildup.
