The RIDGID 32975 Model 103 Close Quarters Tubing Cutter is a compact hand tool built for cutting small-diameter tubing in restricted spaces. It handles copper, brass, aluminum, and plastic tubing with a cutting capacity of 1/8 inch to 5/8 inch. The lightweight slide and wheel housing pairs with a high-quality steel cutting wheel to produce clean, square cuts without deforming the tube end. A large knurled feed screw knob gives precise control over cutting pressure, which is critical when working in confined runs or tight mechanical chases. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, and refrigeration mechanics reach for this cutter when standard-size tools cannot fit the work area.
This cutter is suited for residential and light commercial service work where tubing runs through framing, cabinetry, or mechanical rooms with limited clearance. Typical applications include refrigerant line sets, domestic water supply lines, drain connections, and fuel gas tubing where copper or brass is specified. The compact profile reduces the swing radius needed to rotate the cutter around the tube, making it practical in wall cavities, under sinks, and inside air handlers.
Designed for use on copper, brass, aluminum, and plastic tubing in the 1/8 inch to 5/8 inch outside-diameter range, consistent with common refrigerant, water supply, and fuel tubing sizes used in HVAC, plumbing, and refrigeration service.
This tool is used by licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and refrigeration mechanics for tubing cutoff work during installation or service. Before cutting any tubing on an active system, shut off and relieve pressure on the line being cut and follow applicable code requirements under IFGC, IPC, or local mechanical codes. Score the tube evenly by rotating the cutter one full revolution before advancing the feed screw, and advance the screw gradually to avoid wheel skipping or tube deformation. Deburr the cut end with a reamer or deburring tool before making any fitting connection.
