The RHOMAR rhogard 5 is a propylene glycol-based heat transfer fluid formulated with multi-metal corrosion inhibitor additives for use in closed-loop hydronic and solar thermal systems. It provides freeze protection down to -60 degrees F and burst protection down to -100 degrees F, making it suited for systems exposed to severe cold. The fluid carries a specific gravity of 1.02 and a boiling point of 113 degrees C, supporting stable operation across a wide temperature range. Licensed HVAC technicians, plumbers, and solar system installers specify this fluid where aluminum, brass, cast iron, copper, and stainless steel components are present in the same circuit.
This fluid is appropriate for residential and light commercial hydronic heating systems, radiant floor loops, chilled water cooling circuits, boilers, and solar thermal collectors. Solar systems are particularly susceptible to extreme temperature swings, and the inhibitor package in rhogard 5 is designed to address both high-heat degradation and hard-freeze conditions that occur in those applications. The 5-gallon container size suits service calls and seasonal system fills where bulk volume is needed without overage.
Formulated for use in fluid systems, hydronic heating and cooling circuits, solar thermal systems, and boilers. Suitable for systems containing aluminum, brass, cast iron, copper, and stainless steel components in the same loop.
This fluid is installed by licensed HVAC technicians or plumbers servicing closed-loop hydronic or solar thermal systems. Isolate and de-pressurize the system before draining or adding fluid, and verify the existing fluid type before mixing. Use the appropriate dilution ratio for the target freeze protection level based on system volume calculations. Dispose of spent glycol fluid in accordance with local environmental regulations, as disposal requirements vary by jurisdiction.
