The REIFF NESTOR 46276 is a standard NPTF pipe tap designed to cut tapered pipe threads in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from high-speed steel with a nitride finish, this tap produces a 3/8-18 NPTF thread form suitable for pressure-tight pipe connections without the use of sealant. The nitride surface treatment improves wear resistance and reduces friction during cutting. With 4 flutes and a regular chamfer, the 46276 is suited for through-hole and short blind-hole applications where controlled chip flow and thread accuracy are required. Thread length is 1-1/16 inches, and the tool is part of the Series 120DSCI lineup.
This tap is used in plumbing, HVAC, and industrial pipe assembly applications where NPTF-standard threaded connections are required. It is appropriate for threading pipe ports in manifolds, fittings, valves, and equipment housings. The regular chamfer makes it a practical choice for production and maintenance environments where operators need a tap that starts easily in pre-drilled holes. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, HVAC technicians, and machinists working with pipe thread connections will find this tool applicable to a wide range of service and fabrication tasks.
Designed as an OEM-style tooling option for cutting 3/8-18 NPTF pipe threads in applications requiring pressure-tight connections per NPTF thread standards.
This tap is installed using a tap wrench or appropriate machine holder sized for the 0.700 inch shank and 0.531 inch square drive. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the pilot hole is drilled to the correct tap drill size for 3/8-18 NPTF before starting. Apply cutting fluid appropriate to the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve thread quality. Follow applicable shop safety practices and shut down any equipment under pressure before threading pipe ports in live systems.
