The REHAU 235381-113 is a 1-inch nominal diameter PEXa water supply pipe with a co-extruded UV-protective shield, supplied in a 100-foot coil. Manufactured using REHAU's high-pressure peroxide crosslinking method, this pipe meets the PEXa standard for superior flexibility and resistance to cracking. The integrated white polyethylene shield blocks ultraviolet light exposure for up to one year, making it suitable for installations where the pipe may see temporary sunlight exposure during or after rough-in. Plumbers and mechanical contractors install this pipe in residential and light commercial potable water systems, hydronic heating loops, and radiant floor heating applications.
This pipe is designed for use in plumbing and mechanical systems where PEXa flexibility is required. The UV shield allows the pipe to be staged outdoors or left in open framing for a limited period without degrading the pipe material. It is commonly used in new construction and retrofit projects where contractors need a reliable crosslinked polyethylene pipe that can tolerate job-site conditions prior to enclosure. The 100-foot coil format supports typical residential rough-in runs without excessive field joints.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation pipe for residential and light commercial PEXa plumbing and hydronic systems requiring 1-inch nominal crosslinked polyethylene pipe.
Installation of PEXa pipe should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local codes, including IPC and IRC provisions for plastic water supply piping. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before making any connections. Use only expansion-style fittings and tools rated for PEXa pipe — do not use crimp or clamp fittings designed for PEXb or PEXc. The UV shield is intended for temporary exposure only; pipe must be protected from direct sunlight beyond the rated one-year period prior to final enclosure.
