The REGAL CUTTING TOOLS 041502AS is a round pipe die designed to cut 1/4-18 NPT external threads on pipe and fittings. Manufactured from high-speed steel, this die delivers the hardness and heat resistance needed for consistent thread quality across ferrous and non-ferrous pipe stock. With a 1-1/2 inch outside diameter, it is sized to fit standard round die stocks of the same OD rating. The adjustable design allows the technician to fine-tune cutting depth for precise thread form and fit. Right-hand thread direction conforms to the standard NPT taper spec, making it suitable for gas, water, and general-purpose pipe work in trade and mechanical settings.
This die is used by plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors for field and shop threading of 1/4-inch NPT pipe. Typical applications include cutting threads on iron, steel, or brass pipe nipples for water supply, gas distribution, compressed air, and hydraulic lines. The 1/4-18 NPT designation indicates 18 threads per inch on a standard tapered thread form, commonly encountered in residential and light commercial plumbing and gas systems. The adjustable feature is useful when working with varying pipe materials that require a slightly looser or tighter thread engagement.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement round pipe die for use in standard 1-1/2 inch OD round die stocks used in plumbing and pipefitting thread-cutting operations.
Installation of this die is performed by licensed plumbers, pipefitters, or qualified mechanical technicians. Secure the die in the appropriate 1-1/2 inch OD round die stock before use, and apply cutting oil generously to the pipe and die throughout the threading operation to extend tool life and produce clean thread form. Inspect threads with an NPT thread gauge after cutting to confirm proper taper and engagement. Follow all applicable IPC and IFGC requirements when threading pipe for gas or potable water service.
