The REED 2340 is a professional-grade infrared thermometer with an integrated Type K thermocouple input, designed for trade use in HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, and industrial service applications. Non-contact IR temperature measurement spans -58 to 3362 degrees F (-50 to 1850 degrees C) with a 55:1 distance-to-spot (D:S) ratio, enabling precise surface readings from a safe working distance. The Type K thermocouple input extends contact measurement to 2498 degrees F (-50 to 1370 degrees C). Beyond temperature, the 2340 also captures relative humidity, dew point, and wet bulb temperature in a single instrument. A 2.4-inch TFT LCD displays readings at 320 x 240 pixel resolution. The unit is USB-C rechargeable with a 3.7V 2600mAh Li-ion battery rated for approximately 20 hours of runtime.
The REED 2340 suits licensed HVAC technicians, refrigeration mechanics, electricians, and industrial maintenance professionals who need accurate non-contact and contact temperature data across a wide measurement range. It is well suited for duct surface readings, motor and electrical panel inspections, boiler and combustion equipment surfaces, and any service call where both ambient psychrometric data and high-temperature IR measurement are required in the same handheld tool. The built-in trigger lock supports continuous monitoring during sustained diagnostics, and high/low audible alarms help flag out-of-range conditions without requiring the technician to watch the display continuously.
Accepts standard Type K thermocouple probes for contact temperature measurement. Compatible with any Type K probe within the instrument operating range. PC connectivity allows data transfer to computers for logging and reporting.
The REED 2340 is a handheld diagnostic instrument and does not require installation. HVAC and electrical technicians should de-energize or isolate equipment per applicable codes before using contact thermocouple probes on live components. For non-contact IR readings, verify emissivity is set appropriately for the target surface material before recording measurements. Charge fully via USB-C before field use; battery status is indicated on the display.
