Product Description

The RAIN BIRD M13008 is a line surge protector designed for use with Rain Bird 2-wire decoder irrigation systems. It protects the decoder network from voltage spikes and transient surges that can damage field devices and control wiring. Installed inline along the 2-wire communication path, this component is a required part of a properly protected decoder installation. At 1.50 inches x 1.50 inches x 2.76 inches, it is compact enough to fit in standard valve boxes alongside other field components. Irrigation technicians and landscape irrigation contractors install this device as part of new decoder system builds and retrofits.

The M13008 is intended for Rain Bird 2-wire decoder systems used in commercial, golf, sports turf, and large residential irrigation applications. It must be installed every 500 feet along the 2-wire path to maintain adequate surge protection across the full run. Note that the FD-401TURF and FD-601TURF decoders include built-in surge protection and do not require this device at their connection points. For all other decoder types on a 2-wire network, this protector is a required installation component.
