The RADIAC ABRASIVES 34078811 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel engineered for precision flat grinding on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. Built with aluminum oxide abrasive in a vitrified bond, this coarse-grade wheel cuts aggressively and maintains its shape under sustained stock-removal loads. At 46 grit with an H hardness code, it is suited for applications that demand fast cutting action over fine surface finish. Rated to 3600 RPM, it fits standard surface grinding spindles and is appropriate for use by machinists and tool-room professionals in production and job-shop environments.
This wheel is sized at 8 inches in diameter, 0.5 inches thick, and carries a 1.25-inch arbor hole, placing it in a common form factor for bench and surface grinders. The vitrified bond structure is porous and friable, promoting cool cutting by allowing chips to escape and worn grains to fracture away cleanly. The ruby-colored aluminum oxide grain is well-suited to grinding medium-to-hard steels, tool steels, and similar materials where a soft wheel grade is preferred to prevent glazing. It is sold and packaged individually.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit Type 1 straight surface grinding wheel for bench grinders and reciprocating surface grinders accepting an 8-inch diameter wheel with a 1.25-inch arbor hole operating at or below 3600 RPM.
Grinding wheel mounting should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool-room technician following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 1910.215 safety standards. Always ring-test the wheel before mounting and inspect for cracks or damage. Power down and lock out the grinder before installing or removing the wheel, and confirm the machine RPM rating does not exceed the wheel's 3600 RPM maximum. Use correct flange size and blotter paper flanges as required; never overtighten the spindle nut.
