The RACO 111 is a drawn, pre-galvanized steel octagon extension ring designed to increase the cubic capacity of an existing octagon outlet box or to serve as a surface conduit outlet box. Measuring 3.5 inches in diameter and 1.5 inches in depth, it provides 11.8 cubic inches of additional wiring space. The ring is fabricated from 0.0625-inch pre-galvanized sheet steel and includes four 0.5-inch knockouts on the conduit sides. Licensed electricians install this component during rough-in and finish electrical work where box fill calculations require added capacity under NEC Article 314.
The RACO 111 extension ring is used in residential and light commercial electrical installations wherever an existing 3.5-inch octagon box does not provide sufficient cubic capacity for the number of conductors, devices, or fittings present. It is also used as a standalone outlet box for surface-mounted conduit runs. Combination screw heads on the ring allow faster installation with either a flathead or Phillips driver, reducing time on multi-box jobs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and add-on extension for standard 3.5-inch octagon electrical outlet boxes in residential and light commercial wiring systems.
Installation must be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with NEC Article 314 and applicable local codes. De-energize the circuit at the breaker panel and verify absence of voltage before opening any box. Secure the extension ring flush to the existing box using the provided combination-head screws, and ensure all knockout openings not in use are properly closed with listed fillers. Box fill calculations must account for all conductors, fittings, and devices within the combined volume after the extension ring is added.
