The QUIETFLEX 870C is an 8-inch diameter flexible duct rated at R6.0 insulation value, supplied in a 25-foot length. It is designed for air distribution in forced-air HVAC systems and is used to connect supply and return air branches to grilles, registers, and diffusers. The core is reinforced with galvanized or bronze metal to maintain shape under negative and positive static pressure. Johns Manville insulation wraps the inner liner to deliver the R6.0 thermal performance required by modern energy codes. Licensed HVAC contractors and sheet metal mechanics are the primary installers of this product in both new construction and retrofit applications.
The 870C is suited for residential, commercial, and manufactured housing HVAC installations. Its oversized core is engineered to slip over standard collars and register boxes without modification, reducing installation time. The product meets HUD and FHA standard 515.2.1 paragraph B, making it acceptable for manufactured and modular home installations. It also complies with NFPA 90A and 90B and is UL 181 listed, satisfying the fire and smoke requirements specified by BOCA, City of Chicago, and most federal, state, and local mechanical codes. Weather-resistant packaging protects the duct during jobsite storage.
Designed for use in residential, commercial, and manufactured home forced-air HVAC distribution systems. The oversized core is compatible with standard collars and register boxes common to residential and light commercial supply and return air branch applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or sheet metal mechanic in accordance with local mechanical codes and NFPA 90A or 90B. De-energize and shut down the air handling unit before connecting or disconnecting any duct sections. Flex duct must be supported at intervals required by the applicable mechanical code to prevent sagging, which reduces airflow and system efficiency. Do not compress or over-bend the duct during routing, as this increases static pressure drop and can damage the inner liner.
