The PROTO J5548HL is a deep hand socket designed for heavy-duty fastener work requiring extended reach and maximum torque transfer. Built from alloy steel with a satin finish, it accepts a 3/4 inch drive and fits 1-1/2 inch fasteners. The 6-point internal geometry engages flat sides of the fastener head, reducing the risk of rounding under high torque loads. At 3-1/2 inches overall length, this socket provides the depth needed to reach recessed or stud-mounted fasteners common in industrial, mechanical, and structural applications. Meets ASME B107.110-2012 standards. Licensed mechanics, millwrights, and industrial maintenance technicians are the primary users.
This socket is suited for applications where standard-length sockets cannot fully seat on a fastener due to depth constraints. Typical use cases include heavy equipment maintenance, large-diameter fastener work on structural assemblies, and industrial machinery service. The 3/4 inch drive size makes it appropriate for high-torque applications using impact-rated or hand-drive ratchets and breaker bars of matching drive size.
Designed for use with 3/4 inch drive ratchets, breaker bars, and torque wrenches. Fits 1-1/2 inch hex fasteners in deep or recessed installations.
Install and remove using a 3/4 inch drive hand tool or torque wrench; ensure the socket is fully seated on the fastener before applying torque to avoid slippage. De-energize and lock out any equipment before performing fastener work on mechanical assemblies. This socket is not tether capable and should not be used in overhead or elevated applications where dropped-tool hazards are a concern.
