The PROMAX US556124 is a 5-flute, solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. It features a 1/2 inch mill diameter, a 5/8 inch length of cut, and a 0.09 inch corner radius, making it well suited for both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. The PowerLayer coating reduces heat and wear, extending tool life in abrasive workpiece materials. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard. This tool is used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on CNC milling machines and manual mills.
The US556124 belongs to the PROMAX US556 series, a stub-length line built for rigidity and reduced deflection in short-reach applications. The 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank fits standard toolholders, and the centercutting geometry allows plunge entry where required. With a high helix style and normal pitch, chip evacuation remains effective across the supported material range. This end mill is intended for shop environments running steel, stainless, cast iron, and difficult-to-machine alloys such as superalloys and titanium, where a coated micrograin carbide substrate is necessary to maintain edge integrity.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch shank diameter. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium (material codes P, M, K, S).
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in an e-stop or locked-out state per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank fully into the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling. Consult the applicable feeds-and-speeds data for the specific workpiece material before initiating the first cut.
