The PROMAX US556086 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance material removal across ferrous and exotic workpiece materials. Part of the PROMAX US556 series, this single-end tool features five flutes with a right-hand spiral and right-hand cutting direction, a 0.015 inch corner radius, and a PowerLayer proprietary coating. The micrograin carbide substrate paired with the PowerLayer coating improves wear resistance and extends tool life when cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. It is suited for both roughing and finishing operations on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill is designed for use in toolholders with a straight-cylindrical shank and is intended for applications where a center-cutting, short-length tool is required. Primary workpiece materials include P-grade steel, M-grade stainless steel, K-grade cast iron, and S-grade superalloys and titanium. The high helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and improved surface finish in difficult-to-machine alloys. Normal pitch and a non-chipbreaker geometry make it appropriate for general-purpose profiling, slotting, and contouring operations in a production or job-shop environment.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical bore toolholders. Compatible with CNC machining centers and manual milling machines requiring a 3/8 inch shank diameter end mill. Suitable for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium workpieces per PROMAX material grade designations P, M, K, and S.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the toolholder. Verify toolholder runout is within acceptable limits before operation, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling. Follow the machine tool builder and toolholder manufacturer torque specifications when clamping the shank.
