The PROMAX US362182 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for demanding metal removal applications in CNC and manual milling operations. Built from micrograin carbide stock, this single-end tool carries a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 1-5/8 inch length of cut, and a 4 inch overall length with a 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank. A 46/48 degree variable helix geometry - combined with a variable index flute spacing - reduces harmonic chatter and improves surface finish at higher feed rates. The zirconium nitride (ZrN) coating adds surface hardness and lubricity, extending tool life on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. This is a production-grade tool suited for machinists, tool-and-die shops, and maintenance machining professionals.
The US362182 fits standard 1/2 inch ER collets, end mill holders, and hydraulic chucks commonly found on vertical machining centers, knee mills, and multi-axis CNC platforms. It is a right-hand cut, right-hand spiral tool configured for conventional and climb milling passes. The three-flute configuration provides a balance between chip evacuation and radial engagement, making it well suited for slotting, profiling, and side milling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum alloys. Its standard-length profile makes it a practical general-purpose selection where extended-reach tooling is not required.
Designed for use with standard 1/2 inch end mill holders, ER collet chucks, and hydraulic or shrink-fit toolholders on CNC vertical machining centers and conventional knee mills. Part of the PROMAX Series US362 variable helix end mill family.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool builder guidelines for toolholder torque and runout verification. Confirm spindle and toolholder are clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Always power down the spindle and engage an e-stop or lock-out procedure before changing tooling. Verify radial runout at the cutting edge with a dial indicator before beginning a production run to confirm proper seating and minimize premature tool wear.
