The PROMAX US362016 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in non-ferrous metals. It features a 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch) shank diameter, a 0.625 inch mill diameter, and a 1 inch length of cut. The tool carries a ZrN (zirconium nitride) PVD coating applied through PROMAX PowerLayer technology, which improves surface hardness and lubricity for extended tool life. With three flutes, a variable helix, and a coarse pitch, the US362016 is optimized for roughing operations. It is a single-end, center-cutting tool with right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals specify this end mill for precision work on aluminum, copper, brass, and other non-ferrous workpiece materials.
The US362016 belongs to the PROMAX Series US362 short-length corner radius end mill line. It is suited for milling operations in CNC machining centers and manual mills where a controlled corner radius of 0.015 inch is required to reduce stress concentrations in pocket floors and shoulder features. Its short length-type geometry provides rigidity during aggressive roughing passes in non-ferrous metal components. The straight-cylindrical shank is compatible with standard collet chucks and toolholders used in professional machine shops handling production or prototype work.
Designed for use with standard collet-style toolholders accepting a 3/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Optimized for non-ferrous metal workpiece materials including aluminum, brass, copper, and similar alloys (Primary Workpiece Material Code: N per supplier data).
Install in a compatible collet chuck or end mill holder, ensuring the shank is fully seated and the collet is torqued to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, as excessive runout accelerates corner radius wear. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool; apply flood or mist coolant externally when cutting non-ferrous materials to manage heat and chip evacuation. Do not use this tool on ferrous materials, as the ZrN coating is optimized for non-ferrous applications.
