The PROMAX 156-33224 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Built to Series 156 specifications, it features a 0.5625 inch diameter, a 0.02 inch corner radius, and an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating that extends tool life in abrasive and high-temperature cutting environments. With 4 flutes in a right-hand spiral configuration and a high helix style, this end mill delivers efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. It is sized at 2.5 inches overall length with a 0.75 inch length of cut and a 0.5 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Installation requires a compatible toolholder. Installed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job shop environments.
This end mill is rated for roughing and finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium - material application codes P, M, and S. The center-cutting design allows plunge entry as well as standard peripheral and slot milling. The coarse pitch and variable index geometry help reduce harmonic chatter during aggressive cuts, making the 156-33224 a practical choice for tight-tolerance work on difficult-to-machine alloys. It is a single-end tool intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with a compatible toolholder.
Designed for use with a compatible straight-bore toolholder. Rated for primary workpiece materials: steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (material codes P, M, S). Part of the PROMAX Series 156 short-length corner radius end mill family.
This tool is installed by machinists and CNC operators in a compatible toolholder; verify shank diameter tolerance requirements before seating. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Confirm correct runout and tool projection before initiating a cut. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and shop safety guidelines for carbide end mill handling and speeds and feeds appropriate to the workpiece material.
