The PROMAX 156-32824 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding materials including steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The cutter measures 7/16 inches (0.4375 inches) in diameter with a 5/8 inch length of cut and a 0.02 inch corner radius that reduces edge chipping and extends tool life in interrupted cuts. The AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating provides thermal resistance and hardness at elevated cutting temperatures. With four flutes, a high helix angle, and a coarse pitch, this end mill is suited for both roughing and finishing passes in a single-setup workflow. Machinists and CNC programmers working in aerospace, tool-and-die, and general metalworking will recognize the Series 156 geometry as optimized for difficult-to-machine alloys.
This end mill is intended for use in vertical and horizontal machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills where a straight-cylindrical shank toolholder is employed. The 7/16 inch shank diameter fits standard collet and end mill holder systems. Its short flute length and 2-3/4 inch overall length make it well suited for applications where rigidity and minimized deflection are priorities, such as deep-pocket side milling, shoulder milling, and profiling in stainless steel and nickel-based superalloys. It is a single-end, right-hand cut, right-hand flute configuration.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical shank toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Fits collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit holders sized for a 7/16 inch shank diameter.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked before loading or removing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout at the cutting edge with a dial indicator before initiating a production cut, as excessive runout will accelerate corner radius wear and reduce surface finish quality.
