The PROMAX 134-03230 is a 2-flute solid carbide chamfer mill designed for chamfering, countersinking, and spotting operations on a wide range of workpiece materials. Built from solid carbide throughout, it delivers the rigidity and wear resistance required for consistent edge preparation in production and job-shop environments. The tool features a 1/2 inch cutter head diameter, a 1/2 inch shank diameter, and a 3 inch overall length. Its bright, uncoated finish makes it well suited for applications where coating interaction with the workpiece material is a concern. Right-hand cutting geometry is standard. Machinists and CNC operators are the primary users of this tool class.
This chamfer mill is used across general metalworking, mold and die, and precision machining applications. It handles chamfering on drilled or milled edges, countersinking for fastener seating, and spotting to locate drill starts accurately. The 1/2 inch shank accommodates standard collet chucks and end mill holders common on vertical machining centers and CNC mills. Its solid carbide construction supports higher spindle speeds and feeds compared to high-speed steel alternatives, making it a practical choice for both ferrous and non-ferrous material setups.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or new installation for standard 1/2 inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and compatible toolholding systems on CNC vertical machining centers and manual mills. Part of the PROMAX Series 134 chamfer mill line.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down or in an E-stop state before changing tooling. Seat the 1/2 inch shank fully in the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention nut or set screw according to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production run to protect both the tool and the workpiece.
