The PROMAX 122-04014 is a solid carbide ball end roughing and finishing end mill designed for aggressive material removal and finish milling in a single tool. Built from micrograin carbide and coated with AlTiN, it handles high-heat cutting environments in ferrous and hardened materials. The 5/8-inch diameter with a 35-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. With a 1.25-inch length of cut and a 3-flute geometry, it balances chip load capacity with surface finish quality. This end mill is installed and used by machinists and tooling specialists in job shops, production machining, and maintenance environments.
This end mill is suited for milling operations in CNC machining centers and manual mills where both roughing and finishing passes are required. The ball end geometry makes it appropriate for contour milling, 3D profiling, and radius slot cutting. The Weldon flat shank provides positive retention in end mill holders and reduces pullout risk during heavy cuts. The single-end, right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting configuration match the standard setup of most vertical machining centers. It is used across aerospace, die and mold, and general metalworking applications.
Designed as a standard-shank replacement end mill for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting 5/8-inch Weldon flat end mill holders, part of the PROMAX Series 122 line.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and at rest before loading or changing the tool. Secure the Weldon flat shank in a properly sized end mill holder and torque the set screw to the holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning production cuts, and confirm feed and speed parameters match the material and coating requirements for AlTiN-coated carbide tooling.
