The PROFESSIONAL PLASTICS SPCCL.500X24.000X24.000FM is a clear polycarbonate plastic sheet measuring 0.5 inches thick by 24 inches wide by 24 inches long. Polycarbonate is an impact-resistant thermoplastic rated for a tensile strength of 9,000 psi and a Rockwell hardness of R-120. It handles service temperatures from 40 degrees F up to 180 degrees F and is approved for outdoor use. At 12.44 pounds per sheet, this is a solid, full-size panel suitable for fabrication, glazing, machine guarding, and protective barrier applications. The film backing protects the surface during handling and cutting. Fabricators, maintenance technicians, and trade contractors work with this material across both residential and commercial projects.
This polycarbonate sheet is well suited for applications that require a combination of optical clarity, impact resistance, and broad temperature tolerance. Typical uses include replacement glazing panels, equipment guards, enclosure windows, skylights, and sign substrates. The sheet is rated for outdoor exposure, making it appropriate for exterior applications where UV and weather resistance are needed. Its flat sheet format allows it to be cut, drilled, and fastened with standard shop tools. The film backing should remain in place during all cutting and routing operations to minimize surface scratching.
This sheet is an OEM-style replacement for MSC part number 10278984. Designed as a standard flat polycarbonate sheet for fabrication and replacement glazing applications across residential and commercial installations.
Polycarbonate sheet is typically handled by fabricators, glaziers, and general contractors using standard woodworking or metalworking tools - carbide-tipped saw blades and sharp drill bits are recommended to prevent cracking at cut edges. Leave the protective film in place until final installation to avoid surface marring. When fastening, use slotted holes or flexible gaskets to allow for thermal expansion, particularly in outdoor applications. Follow applicable local building codes for glazing and barrier installations.
