The PRO-SOURCE 837-335 is a Schedule 80 PVC reducer bushing designed to transition pipe from a 3-inch line down to a 1-inch line within a pressurized or drain piping system. The spigot-by-socket end connection allows the male spigot end to insert into an existing socket fitting while the socket end accepts the smaller pipe or fitting. Schedule 80 wall thickness provides higher pressure ratings and greater mechanical strength compared to Schedule 40, making this bushing appropriate for industrial, commercial, and demanding residential plumbing and chemical-handling applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers. The part weighs 0.66 pounds.
This reducer bushing is used wherever a PVC piping system requires a concentric reduction from 3 inches to 1 inch in a single fitting. Common applications include process piping, irrigation mainlines, industrial chemical distribution, and commercial plumbing systems where a compact, solvent-weld transition is preferred over a coupling-and-reducer combination. The Schedule 80 rating suits systems with elevated operating pressures or environments subject to mechanical stress or UV-resistant enclosure needs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 PVC piping systems using 3-inch and 1-inch nominal pipe sizes with solvent-weld end connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and ASTM D2467 or D2467 Schedule 80 fitting standards. Depressurize and drain the system completely before cutting into any existing line. Use PVC primer and Schedule 80-rated solvent cement, and allow full cure time before pressurizing the system. Do not apply excessive force when seating the spigot end into a socket, as PVC fittings can crack under uneven mechanical loading.
