The PRO-SOURCE 18-7GZ is a zirconiated tungsten TIG welding electrode designed for use in gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) applications. Measuring 0.125 inches in diameter and 7 inches in length, this electrode carries a brown color code that identifies its zirconiated tungsten composition. Zirconiated electrodes are preferred for AC welding processes, particularly on aluminum and magnesium alloys, because they maintain a clean, balled tip under AC current and resist tungsten contamination of the weld pool. Each package contains 10 electrodes. Licensed welders and certified fabricators working in structural, aerospace, or precision sheet-metal applications will find this electrode suited to their AC TIG setups.
Zirconiated tungsten electrodes are commonly used in AC TIG welding of non-ferrous metals, especially aluminum and magnesium base materials found in residential and commercial fabrication, HVAC sheet-metal work, and light structural applications. The 1/8-inch diameter is a mid-range size suitable for moderate amperage ranges on AC power sources. This electrode is sold in a pack of 10, making it appropriate for shop stock or job-site replenishment where consistent arc performance and tip integrity are required across multiple welds or work sessions.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement zirconiated tungsten electrode compatible with standard TIG welding torches and collet bodies accepting 1/8-inch diameter tungsten electrodes on AC-capable GTAW power sources.
Installation and electrode preparation should be performed by a qualified welder or certified welding professional. Before inserting the electrode, ensure the welding machine is powered off and the TIG torch is cool. Grind or prepare the electrode end as required by the welding procedure specification; for AC zirconiated electrodes, a balled tip is typically formed by striking an arc on a copper or scrap piece at the target amperage. Follow applicable AWS and shop safety standards when handling and storing tungsten electrodes.
