The PRIME LINE PRODUCTS PL 14042 is a white-finish aluminum screen frame section measuring 3/4 inch wide by 7/16 inch tall by 94 inches long, with a wall thickness of .020 inch. It is sold in a package of 20 pieces. This extruded aluminum frame channel is used to build or rebuild window and door insect screens. Installers cut sections to length, join them at the corners, install screening material, and lock the assembly together with spline. The white painted finish blends with standard residential window frames.
This frame section is suited for residential window screen fabrication and replacement. It is compatible with nylon corner keys (4-pack PL7726 or 100-pack PL14260) and metal miter corners (100-pack PL14268). Use .165-inch spline when installing aluminum mesh and .185-inch spline when installing fiberglass mesh. Window screen replacement is a common task for glaziers, general contractors, property maintenance technicians, and experienced DIYers working on residential fenestration.
Designed for use with corner keys PL7726 (4-pack), PL14260 white nylon corners (100-pack), and PL14268 metal miter corners (100-pack). Use .165-inch spline with aluminum mesh or .185-inch spline with fiberglass mesh.
Power tools are not required; a miter box or hacksaw, rubber mallet, spline roller, and utility knife are the typical hand tools for screen fabrication. Cut frame sections to the required length before inserting corner keys. Install screening material over the assembled frame, then roll spline firmly into the channel groove to secure the mesh. Dispose of old spline and mesh per local waste guidelines.
