The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6002390 is a jobber-length drill bit engineered for general-purpose drilling in metal and hard materials. Manufactured from high-speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, it features a 118-degree standard point angle and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration for reduced thrust on entry. The bit measures 4.5 mm in diameter with an overall length of 70 mm (2.756 inches) and a flute length of 41 mm (1.614 inches). A straight-cylindrical shank with a 4.5 mm shank diameter seats securely in standard drill chucks. Two spiral flutes in a regular helix clear chips efficiently during through-hole and blind-hole drilling operations. This bit is suited for use by machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators working with metallic workpieces.
The 6002390 is designed for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and other hard materials. It falls within the D33M series, which covers jobber-length bits in the 4.00 mm to 5.00 mm diameter range. With a flute-to-diameter ratio of 9xD and a maximum drilling depth of 1.614 inches, it handles standard production and maintenance drilling tasks on drill presses, CNC machining centers, and handheld power drills. Coolant-through capability is not included in this configuration.
Part of the D33F-D33W-D33L-D33M series, suitable for use in standard drill chucks accepting 4.5 mm straight-cylindrical shanks. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and hard materials (material codes P, M, K, N, H).
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using a drill press, CNC spindle, or handheld power drill with an appropriate chuck. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before drilling. Apply a compatible cutting fluid or oil when drilling steel or stainless steel to extend tool life and improve hole finish. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace the bit if edge integrity is compromised.
