The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6001504 is a taper length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling across a wide range of materials. Built from high speed steel with a bright/uncoated finish, it measures 0.1457 inches (3.70 mm) in diameter and features a 118-degree standard point angle. The overall length is 4-13/32 inches (112.00 mm) with a flute length of 2-7/8 inches (73.00 mm). The taper length body provides added reach compared to a jobber-length bit, making it useful when drilling deeper holes or working in confined spaces. The web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians are the primary users of this bit.
This bit is suited for drilling in a broad range of materials including alloy steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, malleable iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, high strength bronze, copper, nickel, nickel alloy, magnesium, magnesium alloy, cermet, graphite, and reinforced plastic materials. It performs well in both production and maintenance environments where a single general-purpose bit is needed across varied workpiece materials. The straight shank fits standard drill chucks without adapters, and the right-hand spiral flute pulls chips away from the cutting edge during operation.
Designed as a general-purpose taper length drill bit compatible with standard drill chucks accepting a 0.1457-inch straight shank. Suitable for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power drills where the chuck capacity accommodates this shank diameter.
Secure the straight shank fully in the drill chuck and verify it is centered and tightened before use. Ensure the workpiece is clamped or fixtured to prevent movement during drilling. Apply appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling ferrous materials or stainless steel to extend tool life, as this bit does not include coolant-through capability. Allow the bit to come to a complete stop before removing it from the chuck or contacting the workpiece.
