The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6001377 is a 3/32-inch diameter aircraft extension drill bit built for deep-reach drilling applications in metal and composite materials. Made from high speed steel with an oxide finish, it features a 135-degree split point that is self-centering and web-thinned, reducing the need for a center punch and minimizing walking on entry. The 12-inch overall length puts this squarely in aircraft extension territory, giving technicians access to fastener locations that standard-length bits cannot reach. Two spiral flutes with a tapered web configuration clear chips efficiently during right-hand cutting operations.
This drill bit is suited for general-purpose metal drilling in applications where extended reach is required, including aerospace maintenance, structural fabrication, and HVAC sheet metal work. The straight-cylindrical shank seats in standard drill chucks without adapters. The 1.25-inch flute length relative to the 0.0938-inch diameter provides a 4xD flute-to-diameter ratio, keeping the bit stable in the cut. It meets NAS 907 Type B standards, making it appropriate for aviation maintenance environments where material traceability and dimensional compliance matter.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or service-stock drill bit for use in standard 3/32-inch drill chuck applications requiring aircraft extension length, conforming to NAS 907 Type B specification.
Installation should be performed by qualified technicians familiar with metalworking and drilling procedures. Secure the workpiece fully before drilling and confirm chuck jaw engagement on the full shank diameter before applying cutting pressure. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the base material to extend bit life and maintain dimensional accuracy. Inspect the split point for wear or chipping before each use, as a damaged point on a self-centering bit can cause oversized or off-axis holes.
