The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6001374 is a taper length drill bit designed for precision hole-making in a wide range of metallic and non-metallic materials. Built from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, this bit features a 118-degree standard point angle, a spiral flute configuration, and a straight shank. The web-thinned, tapered web design reduces thrust at the point and improves chip evacuation. At 4.6875 inches overall length with a 3.0625-inch flute length, it delivers greater reach than a jobber-length bit without sacrificing rigidity. It is sold individually and suited for machine shop, maintenance, and light fabrication work.
This drill bit is built for use in drill presses, lathes, and CNC machining centers where taper length reach is required. Its right-hand spiral cut and standard point make it appropriate for general-purpose drilling across production and maintenance environments. The Series 5ATL designation and DIN 340 specification confirm it meets recognized dimensional standards for taper length tooling. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and maintenance mechanics are the primary installers and users of this bit.
Designed as a general-purpose taper length drill bit compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks and collet systems. Rated for use in alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, cermet, copper, graphite, hardened steel, high strength bronze, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, nickel alloy, reinforced plastic materials, and stainless steel.
Install in a compatible straight-shank chuck or collet and verify secure seating before operation. Confirm spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material before drilling. Use cutting fluid where recommended for the target material to extend tool life and improve hole finish. Inspect the cutting edges and web for wear or damage before each use.
