The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6001361 is a Letter D high speed steel aircraft extension drill bit designed for deep-hole drilling in metal fabrication, aerospace maintenance, and general industrial applications. Built to Series 502-12 specifications, it features a 135-degree split point that is self-centering and web-thinned, reducing the need for a center punch and minimizing walking on entry. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.246 inches in diameter, and the overall length of 12 inches allows access to recessed or difficult-to-reach bore locations that standard-length bits cannot reach. An oxide finish provides mild corrosion resistance and reduces friction during cutting.
This drill bit is suited for right-hand cutting in ferrous metals, aluminum, and structural materials where an extended reach is required. Typical applications include airframe repair, structural steel work, and machine shop operations requiring deep or offset hole placement. The 2.75-inch spiral flute length provides adequate chip clearance during deep passes, and the tapered web configuration adds strength while reducing thrust requirements. It is sold individually and is appropriate for use in standard drill presses, hand drills, and magnetic-base drill units with a matching collet or chuck.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use drill bit for applications requiring a Letter D (0.246-inch) diameter hole with extended reach in standard drill presses, hand drills, or magnetic-base drilling equipment accepting a straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist, maintenance technician, or aircraft mechanic familiar with metal drilling procedures. Secure the workpiece fully before drilling and confirm the chuck or collet is rated for the 0.246-inch shank diameter. Always wear appropriate eye protection and ensure the drill is running at a feed rate and RPM appropriate for the material being drilled. Disconnect power to any drill press or fixed machine before changing bits.
