The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6001344 is a 15/64 inch (0.2344 inch decimal) high speed steel aircraft extension drill bit designed for reaching into deep or recessed bore locations that standard-length bits cannot access. Built to a 12 inch overall length with a 2.625 inch flute length, this bit uses a 135-degree split point for self-centering entry without a center punch, reducing walking on hard or curved surfaces. The oxide finish provides mild corrosion resistance and reduces friction during cutting. It is suited for general-purpose drilling in metal, and it meets NAS 907 Type B standards, making it appropriate for aerospace and precision fabrication work.
This extension drill bit is used in applications where standard jobber-length bits fall short. Typical scenarios include drilling through structural members, deep flanges, or tight assemblies in aircraft maintenance, HVAC equipment fabrication, and sheet metal work. The 12 inch overall length combined with a straight-cylindrical shank allows it to seat securely in standard drill chucks. Right-hand cutting direction and a two-flute spiral configuration support clean chip evacuation in through-hole and blind-hole applications. Series 500-12 designation places this bit in a consistent product family for shops that standardize on tooling.
Designed as a general-purpose aircraft extension drill bit compatible with any standard drill chuck accepting a 15/64 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Meets NAS 907 Type B standards as specified by the manufacturer.
A licensed machinist or qualified technician should verify chuck size and spindle speed before use. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and confirm there is no runout before drilling. Due to the extended length, use the lowest practical spindle speed and apply cutting fluid when drilling ferrous metals to prevent heat buildup and premature wear. Do not use this bit for percussion or hammer drilling.
