The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6001310 is a Letter N aircraft extension drill bit engineered for deep-hole drilling applications in metal fabrication, aerospace maintenance, and general machining. Built from high speed steel with an oxide finish, this bit features a 135-degree split point that is self-centering, reducing the need for a center punch on most substrates. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.302 inches in diameter and seats securely in standard drill chucks. At 6 inches overall length with a 3.0625-inch flute length, it reaches into cavities and structural members where standard-length bits cannot. The two-flute spiral configuration with a tapered, web-thinned web delivers efficient chip evacuation during extended cuts.
This extension drill is suited for right-hand cutting in general-purpose metalworking environments, including aircraft sheet metal work, HVAC duct fabrication, plumbing rough-in through deep framing, and electrical trade applications requiring reach into confined structural bays. The 4xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports drilling through thick material stacks. The self-centering split point minimizes walking on hard or curved surfaces, making it practical for field technicians working without drill press setups. Sold individually, this bit is appropriate for both shop and on-site use.
Designed as a general-purpose aircraft extension drill bit compatible with standard 3/8-inch or larger drill chucks accepting a 0.302-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Conforms to NAS 907 Type B standards for use in aerospace and metalworking applications.
Installation of this drill bit is performed by machinists, aircraft maintenance technicians, sheet metal workers, and trade professionals using corded or cordless drill drivers and drill presses. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully into the chuck and tighten all jaws before use. Use cutting fluid appropriate for the base material to extend bit life and reduce thermal stress during extended-reach drilling. Inspect the cutting edges and web for wear or chipping before each use and remove from service if damage is observed.
