The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6001292 is an aircraft extension drill bit designed for deep-reach drilling applications where standard-length bits cannot access the workpiece. Built from high speed steel with an oxide finish, this bit features a 135-degree split point that is self-centering and reduces the need for a center punch on most materials. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 11/32 inch (0.3438 inch decimal), and the two-flute spiral design with a web-thinned, tapered web configuration promotes efficient chip evacuation. It is suited for general-purpose drilling in metal fabrication, aerospace maintenance, and structural assembly work performed by machinists, aviation mechanics, and sheet metal tradespeople.
This drill bit is part of the Series 500-6 aircraft extension line, built to NAS 907 Type B standards. The extended reach, with a 3-7/16 inch (3.4375 inch decimal) flute length and 6 inch overall length, makes it practical for drilling in confined spaces, deep cavities, and stacked assemblies common in aircraft structures, HVAC ductwork fabrication, and mechanical equipment installation. The right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional drill press and hand-drill operation.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use aircraft extension drill bit compatible with any drill press or handheld drill accepting a straight-cylindrical shank of 11/32 inch diameter. Conforms to NAS 907 Type B standards as stated by the manufacturer.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists, aviation mechanics, or experienced tradespeople familiar with metal drilling practices. Secure the shank firmly in a properly sized chuck before operation and verify the workpiece is clamped or fixtured to prevent movement. Always wear appropriate eye protection and follow applicable shop safety standards and aviation maintenance regulations when drilling in structural assemblies. Do not exceed the rated cutting speed for the material being drilled.
