The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6001214 is a high speed steel aircraft extension drill bit designed for reaching deep or obstructed hole locations that standard-length bits cannot access. At 9/32 inch (0.2813 inches) in diameter with a 12-inch overall length, this bit delivers extended reach without sacrificing rigidity. The 135-degree split point geometry is self-centering and web-thinned, eliminating the need for a center punch on most surfaces and reducing walking on entry. Spiral flutes spanning 2-15/16 inches (2.9375 inches) evacuate chips efficiently during drilling. The oxide finish provides light corrosion resistance during storage and use. Intended for installation by machinists, aircraft maintenance technicians, and experienced trade professionals.
This drill bit is built for general-purpose drilling applications where extended reach is required, such as drilling through structural members, deep cavities, or stacked assemblies in aerospace, HVAC equipment fabrication, and mechanical contracting work. The straight-cylindrical shank seats in standard drill chucks without adapters, and the right-hand cutting direction is compatible with all conventional drill presses and hand drills. The Series 500-12 designation identifies this as part of a standardized aircraft extension drill family conforming to NAS 907 Type B standards.
Conforms to NAS 907 Type B standards. Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use aircraft extension drill bit for applications requiring a 9/32-inch diameter, 12-inch overall length, straight-cylindrical shank bit.
Installation is performed by machinists, aircraft maintenance technicians, or qualified trade professionals using a standard drill press or hand drill with a compatible chuck. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling to prevent movement and bit breakage. Ensure the drill is running at an appropriate speed for the material being drilled — high speed steel bits can overheat in hard materials if feed rate and RPM are not matched to the application. Inspect the bit for wear or damage before each use; discard any bit showing chipped flutes or a damaged point.
