The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000748 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for drilling into steel and other demanding workpiece materials. It features a 135-degree split point with web thinning, which reduces walking on entry and lowers the thrust force required to start a hole. The bit measures 6.00 mm (0.2362 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 3.6563 inches and a flute length of 2.25 inches. An oxide and straw coating provides surface hardness and heat resistance during continuous drilling operations. This is a heavy-duty, general-purpose drill bit intended for use by machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators working on production or job-site applications.
The 6000748 is suited for drilling steel, cast iron, nonferrous metals, and similar materials in both shop and field environments. It conforms to DIN 338 and ANSI standards, making it a direct fit for standard drill chucks and CNC toolholders accepting straight-cylindrical shanks. The 10xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration support chip evacuation in moderate-depth drilling. Applications include structural fabrication, equipment maintenance, and general metalworking where consistent hole quality in ferrous and nonferrous stock is required.
Designed as an OEM-style jobber drill bit compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks, collet holders, and CNC toolholders accepting a 6.00 mm (0.2362 inch) straight shank. Rated for primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, N, and S per ISO material classification.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using a standard drill press, hand drill, or CNC machining center. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before beginning operation and verify the chuck is tightened properly to prevent slippage. Always power down the machine before changing tooling. Follow applicable shop safety standards and use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material to maximize tool life, noting that this bit does not have a coolant-through bore.
